Thought I might give it a try, Are You Being Served on now, not impressed and canned laughter awful, why do they want to remake classics never be the same as the originals, turning off now!

I watched AYBS for 10 minutes, then switched off. (Repeated "pussy" jokes became predictable and boring.) Gave Porridge a try, turned that off too. Nobody can fill Ronnie Barker's shoes.

agree 200 percent - a waste of taxpayers' licence fees....seriously grim - gone over to the Queen Vic now.
I didn't laugh once. Sherrie Hewson awful as Mrs S. I quite liked Jason Watkins as Mr H though
Didn't even bother turning it on. Saw stills and 'previews' - they can't recreate a spark
Truly awful, trying Porridge now.
^^^ Been watching Barenboim, which was excellent. His efforts in bringing cultures together is hugely to be praised. Otherwise it is hard to find Wagner played live to listen to these days.

Anyone else concerned that the Proms are not on TV every evening, somewhere? We miss them. Radio is good, but not the same by a long way.
I'm watching it now, actually wasted time recording it. I thought that the idea was that they were making up to date versions, this is beyond dire.

I thought 'Are You Being Served' was good. The characters very near the originals.' Porridge' is not much good so far.
I actually thought Are you being served was funny - almost as good as the original. I hope they make it into a series. But Porridge on now isn't so good and nothing could compare with the great Ronnie Barker.
Didn't see much of AYBS - but I heard about 10 mins of it - and what I did see was rubbish.

As for Mr Grace - he was young!

(I used to watch this when it was origninally on!)

Recording Porridge just noe for a relative - but don't think much of it!
Computer misbehaving - started answering this whilst watching new version of 'Porridge' but couldn't make anything write. The writers have done their stuff OK (language much in line with the original). Sorry, it's just not as funny - in fact it's not very funny. All the computer stuff is not accessible to the original audience - newcomers may enjoy it. The canned laughter ............. perleeeeease! Not for us.
I thought Porridge ended very well tonight. This episode was written by the original writers and I thought they captured the spirit of the original quite well.

Could certainly tell AYBS was written by Derren Litten, it was a smut fest
I thought it was okay. Light entertainment. If it's the start of a new series, it might just get better.
It's set in 1988 so, "Young Mr Grace" is probably meant to be his grandson. I've recorded it and I'll watch it tomorrow.
Young Mr Grace wasn't young in the original - that was the idea!
AYBS was dreadful, but just the same as the originals. Strange how that smutty sort of inuendo humour is cringeworthy these days. Porridge was OK, but no match for the original. The casting of FLetch was all wrong.
Who played Fletch? I didn't see it.
Kevin Bishop played Nigel Fletcher, Norman Fletcher's grandson
I didn't watch it the first time round so I might actually enjoy it as I have nothing to compare it to.
