The Telegraph calls is deadly dull and gives it two out of five stars. Just goes to show the critics know nothing. We thoroughly enjoyed it, Joanne Froggatt plays a brilliant part. Well worth watching.

Was certainly more gritty. And very well acted I thought. When it began I just thought 'NOOOOOO, this is Anna!' but it wasn't very long before I totally forgot about Anna and just saw Mary Ann.

Never take what critics write as gospel! I’ve spent many an ‘Opening Night’ at theatres with bunches of critics. Many of them spend almost the entire performance in the bar!

I watched the first episode tonight. Excellent. I only wish I could understand what she's saying! I'm struggling with her accent.

Struggled to understand a lot of what they were saying. However (SPOILER ALERT!) I did think the continuity announcer at the beginning could have said spoiler alert before telling us she was the country's first convicted serial killer - up to that point I wasn't aware of the story and it sort of took the edge off it knowing what was coming.

Also I did not realise she was actually killing the kids too!
