Following on from another thread regarding how unfunny Sarah Millican is, who is your all time favourite, mine has to be Max Miller, my dad loved him and I got to hear most of his stuff over the years, great timing and delivery.
Good grief! Where does one start? Should comic actors be included? (Tony Hancock, for example?). Sketch performers? (Eric Morecambe? Ronnie Barker? John Cleese? John Bird? John Fortune?) Comedians who don't need any scripts at all? (Linda Smith?) People who can be incredibly witty and, at times, outrageously funny, but who wouldn't think of themselves...
I know I am old with this but the Golden Girls really lifted me at a time of great loss of losing my mum. Even now I bought the box series and I can still laugh, and being aware of "things" - the 4 of the them had great timings - unbelievable.
Dave Allen..Bob Monkhouse...Morecombe and Wise....in his day..Freddy Star...Ken Dodd (genius at one line quips and goes on for hours ) Father Ted for sitcom....
