Did anybody else watch this tonight ?

I thought it was the most harrowing thing I have seen on TV for a long time. How did they make Sheridan Smith look so overweight, and what a very good actor she is .

Yeah...Sheridan Smith probably put weight on for the role.

She was very good. I wasn't keen on the actress playing Karen Matthews.
Going to get it on catch up ;-)
The actress who played Karen was uncannily like her in looks and mannerisms.

I thought that the actress playing Karen Matthews made her look very stupid, which was probably true to real events, after all.
Apparently she was very immature which was well portrayed by the actress

Elle....I agree 100%. This is exactly the sort of program that should make us so proud of the BBC.
I thought it was good. Well acted.
Agree Mikey. It was exceptionally well written and acted
I looked up the actress playing Karen Mathews and she is totally unlike her, Gemma Whelan a really attractive actress.
I might not have watched it, if it hadn't been for Sheridan Smith. She is an incredible actress. Looks like she had to put on some weight on for this part.
Shows what a skilful actress she is

I hope we will all remember programs like this, the next time the BBC is getting criticism here on AB, which is all the time !
I wonder how Shannon feels about the it?
I only watched it because Sheridan Smith was in it. Brilliant actress.

LadyB....she is now 18, lives with anther family, and doesn't have anything to do with her old family.
Excellent acting, except SS, thought she was slightly Ott,uncomfortable viewing even though we know the details.
Yes I know all that Mikey, that wasn't my question. The arguments about whether the BBC should be making this programme have been in the papers for the last fews days and it got a lot of criticism. Shannon will surely have known about it and I wondered if it might have upset her to have it all dragged up again for the world and his wife to watch.

I thought it was well-acted. Like others here, I probably wouldn't have watched it if Sheridan Smith hadn't been in it.

I felt uncomfortable watching it. I feel for poor Shannon and her siblings. I guess the other children were taken into care too? I haven't read anything about what happened to them. So sad.
