Was channel hopping tonight, and came accross this ludicrous redundant unfunny unpleasant deeply nauseating endless loop of people hurting themselves to canned laughter, which is STILL being broadcast  ....

so who honestly watches and enjoys it - can they tell me what I'm missing?

I agree, andy, that those "hilarious" coming off the bike, onto the pole, shots just leave me cold! However, some of the natural, kids, babies and animal ones, can be genuinely funny! Also Harry Hill's sarcastic comments can be very funny!
I dont watch it as much as I used to, I sometimes thought that some of the stunts were done deliberately just to get on TV and of course 250 prize money, I agree what linda has said, some of the crazy goings on with bikes, skate boards and skiing antics look so dangerous and they look like they are hurt in the process, this programme is in the early evening when children are watching and might go out to copy which they have watched, but I do like the animal and babies one's they have me tittering.   xxx   :-)

ooh andy, some of these really upset me! I remember one from years ago, of a little boy having his hair cut with trimmers by his mum. As she sat him in the garden and wrapped the towel around him, he spoke of how excited he was about the school event taking place the following day. I can't remember what it was, but something where he would be in front of the whole school and had to look his best. Then the dozy cow set the trimmers on the wrong setting and shaved a  2inch wide strip across the top of his head completely bald!! The poor lad - I really felt for him. And what did his mother do? Laughed of course, along with the morons in the studio audience! I have often wondered how he got on.

Don't get me started on the on the horrible, stupid parents who give their babies lemons to suck or who leap out of boxes to make their kids "jump" or who have highly flammable streamers dangling over lit birthday candles and then laugh when their child's hair catches fire.

having said that, i love it when drunk idiots dance on tables and fall off, and daft mums who have a go on their child's motorbike without first asking how to stop it, and the dad's who show off dangling on branches over muddy rivers and anyone else who gets the come-uppance (sp?) they deserve!

And of course the animal ones are great! And now they've done away with the infuriating presenters- all horrible- i can actually watch it and leave the sound on!

Andy,

You must be a barrel of laughs to be with ;)

It is still funny to watch but only due to Harry Hill's voice over, the way he states the obvious etc. makes a lame clip into a top comedy moment.

I have to agree though that the situations some parents put their kids into are appaling !.

i like it, not when babies and children get hurt, but the ones that are natural, particularly babies and animals.   I cant believe the amount of them that are shown are so obviously fake! do they think we are too stupid to be able to tell?!
I suppose if Harry Hill is doing the voiceovers now (see, it's been so long since I've watched it that I didn't even know that), that's got to be an improvement over Beadle or the fat bint from Emmerdale, but I don't know how he can lower himself. The reason it's still shown because it's cheap to make. Think about it - the "Great British Public" (© Jeremy Beadle 1982) do most of the hard work for them. It's even spawned copycat shows - Kirsty's Home Videos, anyone? I've no objection to the Kirsty part of that, BTW, it's the damned home videos that keep gettng in the way. :-)

I sometimes thought that some of the stunts were done deliberately just to get on TV and of course 250 prize money

You don't say... ;-)
Brrrr. Phrrrt. That © bit was meant to be a copyright symbol, so I could show off, :-(

do they think we are too stupid to be able to tell?!

Well, we are talking about ITV here.
I never get to watch it regularly but last night's clip with the woman being blown into the sea when her umbrella caught the wind had me howling with laughter. Of course the rest of the prog was made up of the usual skiing/biking accidents which we've all seen a thousand times before. The odd brilliant clip makes up for the rest cos I still laugh just thinking of them afterwards and Harry Hill's comments do elevate it from the cheesefest it once was.

I agree, a abit of an improvement since the days of Lisa Riley and whats-his-face Robbie Williams's mate. Though I'd rather sit through an hour of YBF than 2 minutes of "The Planets Funniest Animals" with that Richard Arnold man. I just cringe if I happen turn it on by accident....

So I take it you are a closet fan of the program then Andy ??
