80's film with video game

Does anyone know or remember a film about a guy who was really good at a spaceship video game and who got recruited into some kind of intergalatic war???? I don't remember much but I'm sure the game featured in the film had really old wire frame graphics. Also a robot clone tries to kill him?? Please help!
