Might be a bit early to decide which is best, but I am more favouring The Orville.

I thought Seth McFarlane would be taking the P of Trek, and I thought I might not like it as a Trekkie. However the Orville is more homage to ST and true to ST principals.

I have been eagerly anticipating Discovery, and having watched the first two, feel a bit let down. It looks fantastic, but the writing and acting are poor.

I vote Orville, and you?

I cannot remove from my conscience an image of a green duck.
Orville is, in my opinion, more akin to Galaxy Quest. I`m finding the new ST a little bland but they arent always right on it when they start.

I assumed 'the Orville' would be like 'Galaxy Quest', but I don't think it is anything like.
The Orville seems more true to to the TNG, DS9 and Voyager Trek ethos. I am surprised how good the stories are, and the jokes aren't over done or Silly.

I was pretty disappointed with 'Star Trek Discovery' after the first two pilot episodes. Episode 3 was good, and I think it will get better.
I've never seen The Orville, but being a Trekkie/Sci-Fi geek was Hugely disappointed with Discovery, I only watched part one of the two part opener though, probably watch part two Tomorrow.

Discovery story telling is a bit weird. It's a prequel that starts with a prequel. Only when you get to ep.3 does if feel like it has properly started.
Ahh I see, I'll give it a fair bat... with the cling-ons I couldn't figure out when in the Trek universe it was set.
I prefer Cuddles the duck to Orville...

Discovery is set 10 years before Kirk Captains the Enterprise.
Thanks Gromit, that's what I guessed definitely after 'Enterprise' but wasn't sure.
Where can I watch The Orville, we are watching discovery, we are on episode 4 its getting better after a slow start. Although I have to admit that Klingons aren't my fave aliens and this seems to be focasing on both the discovery and what is happening to the Klingons as apposed to seeing them just as enemies of the federation.

I agree, STD (unfortunate) is getting better. And so is The Orville. The bad news is, Fox are showing it in the UK at some unspecified later date.

You may find this article interesting, it largely mirrors my previous comments on this thread...

(I am watching Orville on stream on Kodi)
I lurve STD its brilliant and can't wait for the next episode.
I still can't decide if I like it or not, it is very star trekkie, almost a re-boot.

STD Epsode 5, Choose your Pain was brilliant. It feels like the series has finally hit warp.

No Orville this week, but ST Discovery turned in a great episode (Lethe, 6). I am leased the series is not a dud after all.
Wow I'll still have to catch up, I didn't even get around to watching the 2nd part opener.
watched Ep 1 of ST:D last night, thought it was rather good, looking forward to watching more.

Will have to look for The Orville tho
The Orville has got progressively stronger and the 3rd series which I just binge watched was great stories, good humour with some really stretching plots.
