The Book Thief

It was on Film 4 last evening, did anybody watch it? It is a beautiful portrayal of a bleak period of German history. I think it would be especially good for all young people (say, over 10) to see it, maybe that was why it was screened at 6:26 to 9:00pm. If you can still see it I recommend that you do, and if you have children or grandchildren of that age, them too.

I've just bought the DVD on Amazon (a snip at 3 quid) to be delivered to my grandson in England, who, when visiting him about 3 years ago and he about 15, came home from school and I asked him what he had been doing, he said 'history' - a subject of interest to me- I asked him what and he said 'Germany' - even more so- I asked him what period and he said 'WWII, that is all we ever do on that country and I have to say granddad, the the Germans don't ever come out of it very well'.
There are some bad Germans in this film, but there are some heart-warmingly good ones too.
