Tv License Refund

Why can't I get partial refund for tv License when Tv was in storage for 2 months. I contacted them via phone then filled in form online but told it has to be at 3 months & without license running out after that time. I can prove tv was stored & I lived with family with tv & license.
Apparently I could cancel DD with TVL then pay annually but .why should I? Now wonder they are sitting pretty with mountains of license money

So yes, basically you have to be not using it for more than 3 months or you still pay. Doesn't seem very fair.

3 months seems a long time but i can see why they feel the need to draw a line somewhere- it would be an administrative nightmare if lots of people wanted a refund for 2 weeks while they go on holiday for example

I was away on a long weekend last week. Think I'll put a form in. :-)

My TV licence once ran out. I was out of work and did not have a working TV or cash to buy one. So I just did not renew the licence.
3 months later I got a job and a 2nd hand TV so I bought a new licence.
A few weeks later I got a letter saying. '' The licence you bought has been cancelled,your replacement licence is enclosed'' . The replacement licence was dated the day the original one had run out, 3 months before the new one I bought. I told them that I did not have a TV for the 3 months but it did no good. They would not accept that I did not need a licence for 3 months.

Thanks for feed back. Yes I may have answered my own question but surely it can't be that difficult for them to pay out for one month or whatever. Read the latest policy which looks like a get out clause.

I imagine checking up on whether people are watching without a licence would be made significantly harder if people could give notice of short term periods of non-usage.
I'm not a fan of the licence fee though- too easy to abuse and it's not an efficient tax or way of funding the BBC when it's so easy to evade

As they wanted to know initially how long would it be in storage, thats not up for discussion as moving house can take as long as it has to.
