How ridiculous was Corrie last night? Gary told her she had dry rot in her house, he didnt even say how much it would cost to fix but within a couple of hours she sold her half of the Salon to Claudia to pay for it.

No figures were discussed for the Salon so how does she know how much Claudia will pay her for it? She doesnt even know how much the dry rot is going to cost.

Im sure it wasnt necessary, does she not have savings? I know Nick stole the 80k Archie gave her but she must have other money,or if not she could borrow it, Gail has 40k that Lewis payed her back, im sure she would have lent her some.

The stories are getting more and more sill.

I know someones going to say dont watch it then but after 40 years its hard to break the habit,

Nobody ever discusses pay/terms and conditions either when a job is offered at the rovers/Speed dahl/Underworld.
To be fair though, Audrey has been making it clear for some time that she is struggling financially now Archie's money has gone and would need to carry on working or sell up
It's hard to believe that people get paid for writing such nonsense.

FF - i know she has but Archies money was an u expected bonus, she was doing ok before, shes no worse off now its gone, if you know what i mean.
I know the plots are ridiculous but I am sure that Gary told Audrey he would get a quote from someone. Also do the script writers pencil in for the actor playing Nick one frown or two depending on the scene. Also looks like Tracy is to become a grandmother.
I thought Audrey had invested all her savings with Archie's bequest and she lost the lot.

We never know how much a house or business sold for, we may know the shares such as 50% of a business.
I don't watch Corrie any more, but it does seem daft to me. Wouldn't she get a second opinion and other quotes first before selling her business to pay for something like that?
I'm not sure. Whether it was £1000 or £10000 it could have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
Poor Aud is under a huge amount of stress so a knee jerk reaction is understandable.
Obviously it's the scriptwriters who have dry rot - upstairs:-/

When Audrey said the 80k had gone David asked her if that included her savings and she said she didnt have any which i find hard to believe.

She could have easily raised the money against her house or business or family, Gail has 40k sitting in her account.
She actually said, "Don't you understand, David? There are no savings, it's all gone, everything" which I took to mean the savings and the bequest had gone.

If everything's gone, then Nick must have taken a lot more than the £80,000 left to her by Archie. I've lost track of what he needed to pay his ex etc and buy a share in the factory.
You say it's hard to break the habit but, believe me, once you've done just that you will feel a tremendous sense of relief. I, too, have watched the soaps for a million years but, one by one, i stopped watching them. The last to go was Emmerdale and i hung on just long enough to say tara to Ashley. I did pop back in now and then, but soon realised the tripe offered just wasn't worth the effort of my interest. At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, as long as plenty continue to watch these stupid, stupid plot lines, the scriptwriters will keep churning them out.

Oh did she HC? In that case GG is right, Nick must have been walking around with more than 80k in his sports bag! Ridiculous.
It's the producer/storyliners who are to blame for the woeful plots - the scriptwriters only flesh out the storylines they are given. They have little or no input to how plots develop.
Okay then. Delete "scriptwriters" and insert "producers/storyliners". The message is still the same.
Still rubbish whoever's responsible.
I'm with Ken here. Stopped watching Emmerdale about a year ago with no ill effects and am now at the bobbing in and out stage of my last soap, Corrie. Probably more in than out but with such boring characters and silly storylines I'm on my way. One snag, Amy being pregnant, might just have to keep my eye on that or read it on here of course;-)
Another under age Pregnancy,is that 3 or 4 now,in just one Street,Ludicrous.
i like it when someone is set on in employment .factory /shop /bistro. etc,not a word about references, national insurance, and health checks
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the soaps are on too often! Trying to fill five or six episodes every week, the storylines are bound to suffer and they have.
