A little over 40 years ago, while in N Ireland as Intelligence photographer/collator, i was invited up to Intelligence HQ at Lisburn to be shown the 'latest' innovation in photography. I was shown an aerial photograph taken from an helicopter, then a series of enlargements of an area of 'interest' from the original; each one more detailed than the previous pic, until, in the last one, 4 men could be seen meeting in a back yard of a house. The property was in Lavinia Street which was in the Markets area of Belfast, a staunch IRA stronghold. The technology was so good that the identities of two of the men could be recognised. FF 40 odd years and just look at what technology is capable of now. Of course the general thrust of the programme was informative, but, for me, the technological capabilities were uppermost in grabbing my attention.
