is there enough interest in the women's World Cup to merit BBCTV showing all the matches live, or is this Beeb trying yet again to be PC and seeing women's sport as equally important? No-one I know is remotely interested in it. You?

Yes, I will be watching a good few of the matches.
All the England matches if possible.
Nope. Even less interested in the men's though. Women playing sport hasn't been PC... even in ancient times.
I'd rather watch honest endeavour in Women's Football than overpaid hairdressers cheating their way to success in the men's version (which should be trading as "Divers and Fakers R Us" in most cases...)
Yes....yes there is.

I shall be watching as many matches as I am available.

C'mon, The Lionesses...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet another example of the BBC shooting themselves in the foot for being OTT PC. I don’t know anyone who’ll watch any of it either, as the standard of women’s footie compared to the men’s is pathetic.
I also will be following the English women's team.
I'm interested but you should befriend Dave50, Dee....see related questions....he needs help dealing with this...... :-)
Sqad - we all know you are only waiting for them to swap shirts at the end ...
I'll catch as many matches as I can - I know a good few people that enjoy women's football.
Lol gness
I fear for dave’s health when he finds out :-)
The BBC is showing the Irish league cup final :
Glentoran Women v Sion Swifts Ladies

So there ;-)
I think you will find that the BBC, as a public service broadcaster, are expected to show the women's World Cup. If ITV were interested then they would share it, like the men's World Cup. I'm the first person to moan about the BBC being PC, but in this instance I simply don't think they have any choice. I'm sure quite a lot of people do enjoy watching some of it too.
Also looked to me like the stadium was more or less full, so, you know, actually quite a few people are interested.
That was because it was France playing at home, jim
And because quite a lot of people do actually like women's football. I mean, I'm not going to pretend that it's as popular as men's football yet, but it's still going to pick up an audience approaching a billion.
Would be better on BBC 2 or BBC4, instead of interrupting normal BBC 1 Programmes.
Have been waiting for this post to appear...not too ironic given the standard of the English men's team defending the other night...
I would be willing to bet that the cost to the BBC of buying the broadcast rights (for all the matches) is a small fraction of what FIFA would want for the men’s World Cup Finals.
Good luck to England!

The ladies should have a decent tournament.Let's hope they go a step further than the men!
Turned to it last night; after 10 minutes of chat and nonsense I decided I wasn't going to keep waiting to see if they were actually going to show a match, and changed channels :-(
