What did you think? Struck me that he set out to show he’s still “got it” as a performer, maybe in the hope of being given a chance to return. But the last section in which he broke down may have shown that he’s too mentally delicate to be given another shot at stardom. The Lubbock case will always hangover him. Here he said he had nothing to do with Stuart’s death, nor did he give Stuart drugs or alcohol. Yet MB then said “I ***ed up!” What was he referring to then?

I believe by that he was talking about the fact he had split up from his wife and turned to drink and drugs instead.

He should be given another shot at TV, he is in a no win situation, whatever he says about what happened to Stuart on that night there will be those who will never believe him.
I for one believe that he knew nothing about it, a tragic accident which not only took Stuarts life, but destroyed his family and also destroyed Barrymores life.

Whether or not he knew anything about the young man's death, Barrymore's life and career would not have been ruined had he been more forthcoming in his dealings with the police. Blindly following the advice of solicitors with 'no comment' replies isn't always the best course of action. It implies guilt.

I never ever understood the appeal of Michael Barrymore in the first place.

I saw him live once before he was famous, and he ejected someone from the stalls for his own amusement, which is just as well, because no-one else found it even slightly funny, the atmosphere in the theatre could be cut with a knife.

From there he parlayed his dreadful sub-Fawlty nonsense into some idea that he was 'good with people', and then he vanished in a welter of sensationalism.

There is no doubt at all that whatever his appeal was, it was of its time, and that time passed a long time ago, so I doubt any TV company would be interested in resurrecting him now - and amen to that.

I think regardless of anything that happened with regard to poor Stuart Lubbock he's not something for popular consumption now. He strikes me as a self centred, self pitying nasty piece of work and I think if he had any sense at all he'd just enjoy his retirement out of public scrutiny before any old ghosts rear their ugly heads. Not sure of the appeal to anyone of someone who behave like this...

I can't envisage anyone picking up the phone to offer him a slot.

Besides,it seems the same hosts get offered anything new.

I watched the interview with Piers and although he showed a few glimpses of his old self he still looked a light of former days.

But,even in his prime,which he could never resurrect, I cannot see that what appeal he once had a few decades ago would excite TV producers of today.

'What would your kid do' is hosted by Jason Manford and is the only programme that I could see Barrymore do.

Trouble is, Manford, in my book, is more than capable.

If he's not careful, Mr Barrymore is going to shatter whatever shreds of dignity he may have left by popping up on TV acting like a kid with his nose pressed against a sweetshop window, moaning about a career to which he absolutely believes he is completely entitled.

That, even though reality is that he was a second-rate vaudeville act who stretched a minimum talent into an over-long and undeservedly lucrative career, and then weed it all away with seriously bad judgement about his choice of friends, followed by years of achingly unjustified self pity.

Time to stop trying Michael, you're a has-been who never really was, get over yourself and go away.

Me neither, because my dislike is rooted squarely in her utter incompetence, her mealy-mouthed self-pity, and her unjustified status in her political party of choice - and has absolutely nothing to do with the colour of he skin.
