Am I mistaken ?
I thought that when Del boy went down to the water's edge to go on the jet ski - he went to one that wasn't doctored
Then the guy said to him - no not that one and beckoned him to the doctored one

at uni the Dr Who crayzies [who dey den?] used to discuss the physics behind the plots ( yeah time travel etc)
and me english master who got an obit in the Times, used to ask - did shakespeare when he was writing think to himself - well schoolboys will be analysing this ( we werent - he was) in 500 y ?

I do believe Peter that the OP was remembering or recently had a discussion about the episode clip.
As I don't know where you're going with your statement, I would like to add that a lot of todays science was once science 'fiction', so discussions about future science will still be there in the future whatever the new tech will be.
