The sound is awful in many shows now. If you have it loud enough to make out the dialogue the background music is banging. Takes all the enjoyment out of it IMV.
Yes, loved it. SK I am an opera fan but have to admit the music on PB is brilliant, it sets the mood for the scenes for a start. I agree about the voices so I put the sub titles on. Can you not do that and then give it another go? It's worth it;-)
Sharon I do think PB is one of the more difficult dramas to come new to if you haven't seen the previous series. I have seen all series up to now but I'm watching from the beginning. The plot moves quickly and the characters are not cardboard cutouts ! Complicated people.
Wondered just how long it would take to have any music by Brummy Heavy Rock band Black Sabbath included in the series. War Pigs last night, hope there's more to come.
The episode itself was a tad disjointed at first but, once the stock market crash had taken place, it knitted together well enough. Looks as if the Peaky Blinders are back in business.
SharonA; Peaky Blinders is definitely not a series you can just 'jump in on'. You need the back story to understand any of what's going on. I've watched most episodes twice and even i was a tad confused by the reporter last night. It was only when he mentioned the death of a policeman that i caught on to where he was coming from. Trying to get in to the story line in series 5 is a bit like reading a book a few chapters from the end.
Who is the new bloke on the PB committee? The one who was disparaging about the women on the board. I don't remember him. Two years is a long time...:-)
I agree Ken. You can't just watch it from series 5 otherwise the storylines and character arcs won't follow through.
I've watched it right from the beginning when it was first aired and loved it. Also seen every series at least 2 or 3 times again and each time more of the character, plot lines and dialogue make sense.
I watched the 1st series again and remember the reporter from then when they lit a bonfire in the street and burnt photos of King George V. He was invited by Tommy to report on it.
It seems to have gone a bit....stylish. the atmospheric music, camera angles and the slowmo of them walking through an industrial environment with molten steel sparkling away. Didn't really do it for me but I shall persist
