if you have smart tv and can do catch ups, All4 are re-running such shows as ER, St.Elsewhere and my favourite Hill Street Blues, not sure how long they will remain on it but those were wonderful in their day.

They were indeed emmie.

Hill Street Blues was the forerunner of such shows as West Wing, probably my all time favourite show.
For me it's anything with Keely Hawes in it! :o}
Question Author
yes indeed boaty, i will watch HSB later on with a coffee and some lunch. I profess that i had a thing for Captain Furillo, but that was a long time ago,

shame you haven't a smart tv as they are showing Ashes to Ashes again, forget which channel... with Keeley Hawes in it i believe. She was very good in the Bodyguard.
Wasn't she just! She's an excellent all round actress. Very good in The Durrells too.
Thank you! Hill Street Blues was such an innovative program. It pioneered stuff like story arcs and character back stories that we take for granted now.
Z-cars was also innovative.
One show you never see is Big Deal with Robby Box as an inveterate gambler. it had a sort of quirky charm - probably not PC enough to repeat.

anybody remember Turtle's Progress and Big Jim and the Figaro Club?
oh and Budgie..... "They are naked and they move"
Question Author
i dont remember some of those but do remember HSB well, and yes i have the music in my head as we speak..
Used to love HSB and ER.
I know you didn't mention the emmie, but it's one of my favourite themes.
Yes, we used to enjoy Budgie with Adam Faith, also Danger UXB and Colditz,
Danger UXB

A brilliant series with Anthony Andrews. I have the box set.
Upstairs Downstairs, The Duchess of Duke Street, When The Boat Comes In, To Serve Them All My Days and Brideshead Revisited are all series I could watch again, over and over.
