Did he not say to his mother (before she reminded him how cruel his so-called friends were) that he misses them every day. He needs to know how and why they died while he lived. Don't forget that because he survived the ordeal in the woods, he had to leave his home and attend a boarding school in England.
I'll begin by banging my own drum a tad. Didn't i say (wasn't it just after episode 2?) that eldest daughter was involved?
Really enjoyed the series but my one complaint is that it left us with a slight hint of the super-natural (a mention of a 'baby taker'). Nothing wrong with things super-natural but we should be warned beforehand.
As there are 6 books in the series and this one was taken from books 1 and 2, it would be feasible to believe another series (or two) may be in the offing.
