I’m not bothered about same sex couples. Back in the 50s and 60s two women often danced together if they didn’t have a male partner.
Sorry, Mozz, I've only just seen your question.

Yes it's partly that and partly not wanting to see a once great British TV programme descending into a farce.
That's not quite the same as Strictly though is it? It's about making a point, allowing two men of the same sexual persuasion to dance together - why bring sexual preference into a popular show. Pandering to the minorities as usual.
LCG Like it did with Dancing on Ice last year, it was cringeworthy to say the least !
It might be women.. or maybe couples that don't identify as either
Men dancing with men doesn't have to be gay. They are presumably not going to do more than dance together.

"Yes it's partly that and partly not wanting to see a once great British TV programme descending into a farce."

Circular reasoning. Why is having same-sex couples farcical?
Doesn’t bother me, I honestly don’t see why anyone would object.
They are presumably not going to do more than dance together

not like straight folks, then

I don’t think they’ll turn gay suddenly.
Traditional Ballroom dancing has specific roles for women and men, e.g. the leads and the holds, the poses. Regardless of sexual preferences, it just doesn't work with same sex dancing. It just looks so wrong.

Soon we will be seeing men and women swapping roles in classical ballet - an all male dance of the cygnets perhaps?

Traditional ballroom dancing has evolved, then.
Apc, I hate to tell you this but ....

Interesting to know what Brendan Cole would have said about this.
I don't think it will descend into farce LadyCG, if it derails the programme, the Beeb will drop the idea pretty sharpish, but thank you for answering.
I can't imagine Anton doing it without making a joke of it.
OMG Naomi! Actually my example wasn't good. of course men can be cygnets We went to see Matthew Bourne's The Red Shoes. We loved it.
:o)
Ah Brendan Cole, I wish they'd bring him back. Loved watching him jive!
Naomi//I can't imagine Anton doing it without making a joke of he would probably take to the ice in a tutu.
Ughh no, not for me!
