For those of you who are interested, it's 10 days now until The Mandalorian returns to Disney+. Best thing to come out of Disney Star Wars yet, and the second season looks set to be even better, with a wider reach, a chance to explore new stories and expand existing ones, in the company of Baby Yoda and Mando.
Not officially, as far as I'm aware: also fits in with the idea that we still don't even know that Ahsoka's appearing yet! But perhaps after that, and if it goes down well, then they'd announce plans for a series with her (and presumably also others, no more details as it spoils Rebels for those who might want to watch it).
Baz, I think you'd be fine watching The Mandalorian. You certainly don't need any real knowledge about anything from the Sequel/Prequel movies, but knowledge of the original films, while not essential, might be advantageous.
Just watched it. Completely lived up to expectation :)
One scene a bit too 'jar jar' for me but it really galls to even think of criticising this show, they are doing fantastic work.
Bazile you don't need to know star wars to follow the story. I'd encourage everyone to watch it but I may be a little biased :)
Sense I got from this episode is that they're going to try and keep it self-contained even if they do reach out and grab stuff from other parts of Star Wars lore. The flashback sequence is probably not the only such we'll see in the coming weeks.
Not a bad start, glad it's stayed Mando-focused so far!
Yes I like the self contained episodes as well as the longer story arc. It can appeal to a larger that way too which is all good.
Mozz no , the pot was a bit obvious but it still worked for me (any scene with The Child works for me!).
The droids messing up in the background, drawing Peli's attention. in I found Jar Jar's constant background slapstick antics in Phantom Menace very distracting, though I appreciate it had it's audience (my son for one).
Ah yeah, the pit droids were a little daft. Kind of reminded me of the stupidity of the Battle Droids in TCW. I admit though, I was ignoring their antics as I was grinning like a fanboy at R5-D4 and his scorch marks from his exploded motivator.
Out of the ten episodes there've been so far, easily five could be called "filler". Maybe it's just that kind of show.
Still, signs are that next episode will see some plot development, as it seems that we're going to find out who that mysterious hooded figure in the trailer really is...
