One of my favourite books ever. Has anyone watched it .... is anyone watching it ... and if so, how does it compare to the book? Worth watching?

Rebecca of Daphne Du Maurier fame, can't get much better than the original film with Laurence Olivier. It is undoubtedly a great story i have yet to read.... must put that right some day soon

How odd. I was talking to a colleague about a week ago and she convinced me to read Rebecca. It got delivered by eBay a couple of days ago.

I'm reluctant to recommend books - tastes in literature differ - but this is one that has stood the test of time so that says something about it. For me, this is one of those books (like Jane Eyre) that I can pick up at any time, open at any page ... and just read. Love it!

I love the story, have read the book several times over the years, and love the old version of the film. But the latest version on Netflix is very disappointing. Even Kristin Scott-Thomas, whom I usually admire as an actress, was disappointing in her portrayal of Mrs Danvers. The whole thing was a total flop, in my opinion, and not worth the time it took to watch it.

Try 'The Queen's Gambit' on Netflix instead : you don't need to be a fan of chess to enjoy it.

Loved the book, got bored quickly watching it though.

Neither my wife or I have read the book but watched the film on Netflix. I was drawn to watching it as the review I read of it in,I think, The Mail on Sunday, stated that it was directed closer to the book than Larrie's version. I don't know as I haven't seen his film version of Rebecca either. I loved the story though and the twist at the end.

No I haven't seen this rendition, but it seems have got a bit of a hammering from the critics, though I'll perhaps give it a try at a later date.
