Bobbisox, I can only guess at why the nun came to see me - when I told my friend of her visit she seemed to become somewhat cross but I tried to persuade her that it was very likely with the best of motives and not to protest to the nuns. At the time I took it the church/convent wondered why my friend kept up such a friendship (she obviously told them she knew me, probably that she had come to see me and that I would possibly visit her in hospital) and thought that it was possibly romantic (which it had been) and that perhaps we might get together and bring up the child. In their eyes, on the face of it it was almost certainly not impossible that I was the father. I still feel they were simply "covering all the bases" and that there was nothing sinister about it. My friend had made up her mind - I was not witness to the handover. Some weeks/months later I wrote to tell her I was amazed at her decision, she told me off for criticising her, I apologised.
