Just a nice unexptional, slow, typically English film not designed in anyway to get you to the edge of your seats.
One for the women perhaps

We’ve just finished watching this, a really nice and very interesting film which we both enjoyed.
And both learnt something too, all about Sutton Hoo, such a familiar name but never really knew what it was all about.
it was a big thing in 1939 to take peoples minds off the coming war

times letter today - lemon drizzle cake is first cooked in 1967 by orthodox jews and not in 1939
No doubt Sqad would prefer it if the lady archaeologist wore a short tight skirt, stockings and suspenders.

To be fair, I would watch that.
Haven't watched it yet.
We have watched the 5 episodes of Lupin. Brilliant! Give it a go, sqad. (Hope you feel better in yourself today)
Why was there no mention of the incumbent, no skeleton or bones, or did I miss it?

oh dirty naughty boy - you not sqad that is!

hey time for a bit of levity
she sounds more of a no-knickers lady to me!
she's no lady! etc

more levity: can I supply free of charge one standard crushing one liner a la AB?
"Hey sqad what you looking at a film called The Pig for?
you a human doctor innit!
oops sozza, I fort it said Pig, not - - - yeah OK OK!"
ter daah! (more than one line I know)

Sqad as archeologist - hey can I take your knickers off
Leddy archeologist hurls him to the ground a la Diana Rigg
and she shouts, I am not wearing a bra!
Sqad - eek and makes snuffling noises
Leddy - relenting and dfalling into S's arms - o you sweet talking liddle thang, I thought you said knockers ( fade )

what did they call them - ward shows, I wd be good at writing one of them. now gone, all gone I am told
the reviews on IMDB are worth a view

just about everyone who watches it is struck by the radio chiming in rather than having to warm up. The interest was over the start of the war and it took peoples minds off the coming massacre.

I was surprised that so many anachronisms slipped through. The child fleeing in to the garden would have been in proper brushed cotton jim jams and dressing gown. At table there are eating sounds before the ladies have started. The randy photographer didnt exist - the photos were taken by two ladies. Women were not fighting for a place in archeology, Amelia Edwards has sorted that out by 1880.

An astounding amount of earth is shifted by two men and a dog. Back filling when war came ( of course it didnt) - they used a lorry but there was no need - you just put the earth in the spoil heaps back where they came from.

Neville Chamberlains speech is portrayed as evening as the lights go out and the black out takes over
In fact it was midday
and the air raid sirens went off directly after and people thought christ the German Air Force has come to flattten London !

I quite liked the film
