Just a nice unexptional, slow, typically English film not designed in anyway to get you to the edge of your seats.
One for the women perhaps

no car chases at all? Or longboat chases?

For shame.
Are you trying to ruffle feathers again, Sqaddy? ;)
Even the title sounds boring.

Does nobody make action and adventure film any more? Or animal ones?

LG....a bit low emotionally tonight my love, and the dig didn't help.
Someone on AB asked me how old I was and when I saw it in print, it well....didn't do much for me.
I enjoyed it but would have really preferred it as a documentary - it didn’t need the love interest (which was made up apparently).
I wish I could say something to make you feel cheerier (is that a real word?) but I am crap at that sort of stuff.
:-)
letter in the Times today
Fiennes figure was OK
but the senior toff was over done

but films arent meant to be true are they? There was no bonking in the long grass - they just got on with it.
Oh bums. You drive me mad sometimes but I hate to think of you being down.
Know what you mean though. I hate realising my age.

I'd tell you a joke but I'm useless at jokes and always spoil the punch line.

Have a hug instead..x
You're still young at heart, Sqad.
I recommended this in media and tv days ago.
Quite pleasant to watch. Sqad, just don’t tell anyone what age you are. :-)
Saw Mark Kermode's film review at the Weekend. He said he enjoyed it but thought the unnecessary inclusion near the end of the film involving Edith Pretty's cousin Rory Lomax (fictional) and Peggy Piggott (actual) did spoil it a little bit but was possibly done to attract a younger audience for the film.
We watched it last night & enjoyed it. I always look out for anachronisms in films set in the past. The stoneware bottle Mrs Pretty used to water the flowers on her husband's grave was a contemporary ginger beer bottle & bang on, I thought the boy's hat made of aluminium foil was too early, but surprisingly having just checked I find foil was invented even earlier. Didn't have enough time or angle to see the make of Rory's motor bike, (anyone?) it looked authentic, but the license plate was of Gloucestershire not Suffolk,
Fiennes played a great part & could do such a good accent because he was born in Ipswich.
I’ve read a fair few review of this and the general consensus seems to be the same as you Sqad..unexceptional, unremarkable but a ‘nice’ film.
Think we’ll give it a go this afternoon as it’s wet, grey and miserable here, so a cuppa and an easy watch film will be just the ticket.
Hope you’re feeling brighter today Sqad.
wolf //Does nobody make action..... film any more? //

Try Fauda on Netflix
I liked it (but then again I am a woman I suppose!)
it passed 2 hrs but wasn't exceptional
I'm probably going to watch it this afternoon.

I started watching Lupin after your recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed the first episode.
Hope this lifts you a little bit Sqad as it is happening to us all
