"why would anyone under 60 remember LBJ?"

I've never understood the theory that only those who were alive at the time of an event can possibly know anything about it. Johnson being sworn in on Air Force One of the runway of Lovefield Airport in Dallas, with Kennedy's widow standing next to him in her blood-soaked clothing, is simply general knowledge. The photo is an icon of 20th century American history.

When was the Battle of Hastings?

jimF how can anyone under 955 possibly know about the battle of hastings? get real man!
it's not widespread general knowledge any more, JimF, it's history. Ask any 15yo of your choice and see.

Even Sellars and Yeatman acknowledged that there were only two dates in English history. But ask when the Battle of Maldon took place...
Of course it's general knowledge!

I would certainly have known the answer at the age of 15!
so would I, but it wasn't history then. Now, it's nearly 60 years ago - hence my question about where Coolidge was sworn in, which might be an equivalent distance in time for ABers.

I know about Coolidge jno but I said now because you'd just accuse me of googling.
I doubt it's part of the curriculum now for most, perhaps that makes me a bad parent for making sure my children didn't know that particular fact - I guess the question is as Jno says where do we stop?

no, I'll take your word for it, TTT.
Are you talking about the first one, the emergency one, performed by his father at their family home, or the second "official" one the following day in the Willard Hotel in DC?
The last contestant on had a really tough question for a first one. The wavelengths of different radio stations. I for one, did not have a clue. I wish however that some contestants would just answer the questions instead of going round them all explaining what the other options were
bobbie, I think they are told to.
What makes you think that woof?
