Has Anyone Heard The New Bbc Male Continuity Announcer?

He is terrible, his pronunciation of words is incoherent and lazy. Where did they find him? It should be someone with clear diction and neutral accent, understandable to everyone.

Owain might seem so young emmie but he's 37! He started young though- as a teenager he use to be a presenter on children's TV in Wales

I've heard one who is often on just before Richard Osmans House of Games. He sounds dreadful, sort of lazy and can't be bothered to say his words properly, bit like some teenagers speak when they really have to talk to you! I tried to find his name because he struck me as so bad but couldn't find any information.

This is all part of the BBC trying to be all things to all people. The standard of their announcers and presenters has dropped steadily over the past few years. Steve Wright in particular, is trying his best to eradicate the letters T and G with his referral to this year as twenny twenny-one, other announcers are now starting to copy him. On his radio programme on Friday he invites his listeners to phone in with details of what they're doing and urges them to drop the G as in drivin, decoratin, etc, this is also starting to creep into other announcers speech. Jeremy Vine is also guilty of sloppy speech with his Jan(uary) and Feb(ruary). I haven't heard him refer to Mar yet but it's just a question of time. :o)

I welcome different accents and dialects but sloppy pronunciation definitely not welcome. Always brings to mind Dave Allen sketch on grunts.
Bad pronunciation is so unnecessary and imho sounds ridiculous.

Accents are acceptable but not heavy accents. Clarity is essential though. Lazy speech annoys me. It's crept into all areas. I rarely can make out the lyrics of songs these days. I do like nice clear speaking voices.

I dont mind accent's generally but theres someone who does cycling commentary who a struggle to understand. He probly would'nt understand me either tho to be fair

What annoys me about Ritchie is he starts telling you what the problem is before telling you where it is so by the time you realise its is where you are heading its to late to remember what he said about it!

There is an increase in unttractive regional accents in continuity announcers - sometimes it sounds like they've got Dizzee Rascal in doing a shift!
