It is loosely scripted. Don't forget a lot of younger people watch The Repair Shop, it's very popular with student types, and they have never seen a nurse's buckle in real life. It's many years since nurses wore dresses and belts with buckles so those questions are meant to enlighten the viewer.
I know a couple that when on The Repair Shop and did they filmed the entrance and chat three times.
