I have kept half an eye on Derek's condition and progress and the ups and downs Kate is suffering has to be soul destroying. She has two young children and a job of work to contend with as well as her husband. I think she has shown braveness and humility and I wish them both the very best, it is a heartbreaking story.

I agree. She’s going through, hell. God bless him, and all good thoughts for the future.

To see him cry yet not being able to talk is heart wrenching
Can’t believe a virus can damage someone so badly yet they have lived.
Yes, it's so sad what he has been and still is going through. I really hope he recovers fully.
I think a full recovery, given the damage to some of his organs, may unfortunately be unattainable. However with love of Kate and his family he can return home and enjoy life as he best can.

I know what it's like to have a lovely life suddenly turned upside down because of an illness. What she and her family are going through is so much worse then my experience. My heart just breaks for them.
