No, absolutely ridiculous. Anne Boleyn was not a 'person of colour'. The fact the 'woke' brigade find it neccessary to make a point backfires because her being Black will dominate her performance.

Tora, don't worry, she'll be playing Pelé in his autobiography instead. Her ball skills are to be marvelled at.
Anne Boleyn was 5' 3" tall* and having her played by any actress who is taller or shorter than this will be a historical outrage and I will write to someone to demand that she (if it's a she) be sacked.

Don't actors always apply make up to look like the character they are trying to portray? Isn't putting on black make up to look like someone with a dark skin colour the same?
Question Author
exactly Dave - so why don't black actors use white make-up?
Well I don't care what the virtue signallers say on here -a black anne boleyn is just plain daft ,and being done probably so people will watch what will no doubt be a d-rate programme.
Disagreeing with you and virtue signalling are two very different things Polly.
I don't mind who disagrees with me Mozz, There are so many 'right on' people on here who are probably about as racist & right wing as you can get, but pretend to be otherwise. Each to their own, I prefer plain talk, gets me into trouble sometime but at least I say what I mean!
Question Author
anyway I won't be watching - probably after my bedtime!
Was Anne Boleyn really a TV actress? So fake...

And if Anne Boleyn was black wouldn't Elizabeth I be a person of colour? Looking fwd to THAT movie!
I think she worked down the chip shop Pixie -gave Henry extra scraps and...well...the rest is history...:-)
Question Author
not
davebro she was a ginger...don't go there!
Fair enough then :-)
APG... a black anne boleyn is just plain daft
I totally agree, a real life historical person... not a fictional character.

I wouldn't have watched it anyway TBH.
Question Author
Oh - and her brother is black too (of course) & possibly trans?
No ridiculous.
Yes of course particularly as next month a Kenyan Boudicca conquers an Afro-Caribbean Roman army. Later in the season an autistic Chinese Queen Victoria visits Australia where she opens the world's first waterfall.
We'll soon be able to decide how good the production is.

Starts, Tuesday 1st June Channel 5 at 9 PM, three episodes.
Historians are now insisting that her lesbian tendencies be referenced in an episode called Black, Out.
