i find it a very difficult programme to watch - given my obstetric history i never quite know if it's going to overwhelm me or not. Most of the time not, but sometimes something unexpected will just punch me in the chest

well then Bednobs - if that's how you feel then you can't expect a one answer to your variable question.

Slum housing (owned by Matthew's family firm), a Down's baby to be adopted by the mother's sisters, and one of the trainee midwives had given her baby to an orphanage then realised she was being abused.

I think that the issues raised will strike a cord with most people. This week was Downs Syndrome and the stigma of unmarried mothers. The programme afterwards was a recap of some of the social and medical issues from previous series. Thalidomide, abortion, contraception, immigration, polio, TB, congenital anomalies and stillbirth. All dealt with compassion and sensitivity and possibly an education for those not around in those times

I find it far too stereotypical. Almost as though they say right that's a good topic let's do an episode about it. All the characters then fulfill the stereotypes that people assume. Just doesn't leave much for viewers to think about as its all so predictable.

Except the slum landlord was nice widower Matthew Aylward, not a Peter Rachman type character.

I love the programme and sad it has come to an end, they cover so many subjects
