I couldn't see the point of it, except that it might have been an attempt to embarrass "The Establishment". There was nothing new. We are all aware now of the extent of Saviles' offending, so what the point of this programme?

Didn't watch it but I can say that a lot of people overlooked what he was doing - there is no way he carried out the number of assaults that he did without there being knowledge.

I stumbled across it and watched for a bit until it turned my stomach. It was when the lady in the wheelchair was speaking and she detailed what he did to her as a young girl. Vile, disgusting creep !

He was never found guilty in a Court of Law, so perhaps "the point of the programme" was to re-inforce his seemingly obvious guilt.

And to deter similar future cover-ups?

Helen, people can know something without being able to prove it. People in the public eye attract attention seekers who will accuse them of all sorts of things - and even report fictional events to the police, social workers, MPs.
Chinese whispers don't count for anything and sadly it is only in very recent years that children have been properly listened to when reporting sexual offences.

Anyone who did know for a fact because they witnessed an offence that Savile committed but didn't report is also guilty in my opinion.

Naomi, Lydon claims he was banned from the BBC radio for saying that in an interview although he was never told that was the reason for the ban.

If the BBC banned him I can't see how they could stop him. But ... with no proof who would believe him? The whole thing stinks - and that's an understatement.
