Mamya - // There's enough variety for all without insulting each other. //
The point I am making is not the right of viewers to choose, which is fair enbough.
It is about having the basest instincts of viewers pandered to in a deeply unpleasant fashion, in the format of an 'entertainment' show.
My point is that offering this as prime time entertainment is really debasing the intelligence and mindset of the viwers.
As I have pointed out, a large audience is not sufficient justification for creating and delivering programmes that appeal to base instincts - if it was, we could have lions eating Christians.
There is a line beyond which simply appeasing the public because they will watch something, however unedifying its content, should not be crossed, and I think we are appraching it far too rapidly for comfort.
