I accept that he is is an experienced & respected broadcaster & his recovery from throat (?) cancer is to be applauded. It may be my failing hearing but I just can't hear clearly his outpourings on the R4 Today program etc. Maybe he should retire or I should switch off!
His illness has undoubtedly changed the sound of his voice - clearly the BBC think it is acceptable, but I know what you mean, I sometimes have difficulty picking up what he is saying.
Mr. J2 is hard of hearing (to say the least) and he struggles with Nick Robinson's voice. Do you have hearing aids? If so you could try juggling with volume etc.. He's OK with the higher-pitched women's voices.
