I was thinking that whilst watching this afternoon barry. Just wish she'd say aitch properly and show a bit of personality. Beautiful face. The Susie Dent position has been done twice earlier this year, once by a female called Rachel who was brilliant and can't remember the other.
If I remember correctly Gyles Brandeth was solo in dictionary corner recently. He is never lost for words but I do miss Susie, she knows her subject and speaks with authority in a fun and interesting way.
I do think Anne-Marie will relax more over time, cashier.
Didn't he lose it with Anne for keeping asking Ahmed what his words meant? For a reporter, who job was words, she doesn't seem the slightest bit interested in words.
Listening to the Archers then watching Countdown was always our lunchtime routine. When my OH died at the start of the first lockdown I found I couldn't watch it, a couple of months ago I did watch it again but couldn't bear Anne Robinson, so awful. Oddly enough I never had any problem watching Naughty Countdown late at night because OH never watched it, he couldn't stand it!
cashier, Adrian got frustrated with the contestant when he was explaining the meaning of his word - 'are you even taking this in? Aren't you even a bit interested in the meaning of the words?' The contestant just shrugged and said, 'not really'.
I think Anne Robinson's short chats with the contestants are an interesting change but sometimes (reverting to type) she can be a little snarky. Not sure I like it, particularly if it is unsettling already nervous contestants. Always thought Helen Fospero would be a good host (if she would accept it).
Yes it was, Bazile. He must have a superb memory and seems likeable enough.
I never thought I'd say it but I really don't mind Anne hosting Countdown although her 'flirting' with some of the younger male contestants makes me cringe a bit. I think she does pick her targets, though, knows they can handle it.
