An occasional groanworthy joke can be funny, Paigntonian, but a whole programme full of them (as would be inevitable with GB at the helm) would be far too much for my tastes!

Many of these suggestions are for folk, though entertaining in their own profession, would be a bit too full on for Countdown.
It’s a programme I enjoy for the words and numbers and for beating Dave, not for the presenter. Someone who sits back in the chair, gentle humour now and again, and doesn’t look as if she is trying to keep her teeth in her mouth would be fine for me. Preferably male though because I like male voices.

I have never understood why anyone thought Ann Robinson should be on television at all.

She looks like a pantomime witch and she sounds like a cat sliding down a blackboard.

I don't watch Countdown, does she still do that creepy wink at the end?

Nooooooo. It's cheap to make, has a fan base than spans the generations and this last series has had the highest viewer ratings in nearly ten years.
I think they'll keep it going for as long as they can

I think AR does a good job - i like her jovial interaction with the contestants and guests

I like her in the show, too, Bazile - and some of the contestants have said that she makes an effort to get them comfortable before filming.

Apparently Richard Whitely was very stand offish when the cameras were turned off.
