Ricky Gervais and Dave Allen

I watched Ricky Gervais' Animals the other night, and thought his Garden of Eden bit was quite funny. Next day I saw Dave Allen do the exact same material, recorded 30 years earlier! Did anyone else spot that? It is just a coincidence?

I saw Allen do it the other night, c00ky, and it made me laugh a lot. Either Gervais has bought it (comics used to do that years ago), stolen it, had permission to use it or maybe it's out of copyright now that Allen is dead. It'd be interesting to know!

Or, most likely, it's just coincidence. It's the sort of observation that anyone could make - I seriously doubt Dave Allen was the first.
