ITV have announced that Jane Mcdonald is replacing Mr Scofield as host of the Soap Awards?

Is this so Mr Scofield can be freed up to accept his own award - Biggest Star In The Biggest Soap Opera For Years?

I think Schofield's worst transgression was the breaking of the 13th commandment..."Thou shalt not get caught".

He's behaved pretty shabbily towards his wife and the young man in question but as unwise as it all was, there is no hint of illegality and, rather like bednobs, having witnessed hundreds of careers self-detonated, I am at a bit of a loss to understand why this grubby affair has assumed the epic proportions it has.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that following Timothy Schofield's conviction for paedophilia, and Phillip's response that "As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.", some of those "in the know" at ITV could not take the secrets and hypocrisy any more - and soon after that, Phillip's unwise behaviour and lies were revealed.

Add in the media machine, finely tuned over decades to start the horses galloping, and whip them until the audience moves on.

Depends what each individual wants to believe.

Some want to believe they never met until Matthew Mcgreevy was 15.

Only Schofield and Matthew Mcgreevy know if there was any illegality to their relationship, yet some take it as read that there wasn't anything illegal going on.

For what it is worth I think a man in his mid forties (feels madmod breathing down my neck) who meets a ten/eleven year old and stays in touch to mentor the lad is at best a creepy *** and at worst a groomer.

naomi24 in my opinion grooming is paedophilic activity but if you have a difference of opinion then fine but i have a zero tolerance policy for that kind of thing and no smoke without fire so find it hard to defend him against these allegations

Fortunately, our justice system works on an 'Innocent Until Proven Guilty' approach, and the result of that comes from a fair trial with evidence produced, not the attitude of someone who thinks a complete stranger must be 'guilty' because the media says so.
