I know it wasn't 1066, but I couldn't answer that.

Nobody knows everything.

No idea, but not 1066!  I would guess the early 18 hundreds

I hated history at school.  It was all about dates!

Question Author

That's the point Lottie, if you'd guessed anything around that it would not be a TWAU answer but surely everyone knows it can't be 1066.

I find it easy to remember because it happened halfway through the evening news, 18.15.

Was it a young contestant?

Question Author

no, middle aged woman.

Question Author

....but I knew the dates of the big battles etc when I was 11 so the age is not a factor.

It's usually young people who get history and geography questions wrong.

Young folk tend to be quite thick though, innit.

I certainly wouldn't have known that at 11 years old. And I wouldn't have been interested in battles.  I would have been learning  about serfs and vileins, strip farming etc at 11.  But as I said, I hated history at school.  I've learned far more since leaving school.  I liked economic history though.

Not thick.   Intelligent in different areas probably more useful to them!

I wouldn't have known this at 11 yrs!!!! Don't know it now either 😁😁

Question Author

...but you know a battle in 1066?

We'll have to agree to disagree, CL.

As long as you don't apply your thoughts to all young people, Doug.

No googling Tora Tora Tora, when was the Battle of Tora Bora?

Question Author

Well Tora Bora is the cave complex in Afghanistan and it happened shortly after 9/11 so I'd say around 2002. I assume that's what you mean. Not sure what point you are making though. The amusement factor is not there for a sensible guess. But guessing 1066 for Waterloo now that does have a high TWAU factor, that's the point that most seem not to grasp.

Question Author

As with all of these that actual answer is irrelevant.

Is 'thick' the new '5C'?
