Whilst channel hopping I stumbled across an old episode of 'Keeping Up Appearances'. Not sure how popular it used to be but I remember watching an episode years ago and thought it was quite funny, but today - I watched it and just couldn't believe that anyone ever watched it! Was just so, well, unfunny lol. Or is it just me??

Anyone feel the same bout any other programmes??

I have liked some recent sitcoms.

I really enjoyed Scarborough - I was disappointed when it was cancelled, also Kate & Koji.

Home was a bit different. I like Motherland, The Cleaner, Clunk, Mandy and thought The Change was brilliant.

I can't abide Citizen Khan although the first two episodes had some funny moments and Mrs Browns Boys should never have got past the pilot episode.

I'm actually amazed that so many of these 'comedies' ran for so long!

My dad used to love Rising Damp!

Rising Damp was a perfect sitcom

In what way Barry?

Script, casting and chemistry.

Oooh Miss Jones!

I recently stumbled across 'Toast of London' on Gold. It was brilliant. I love Matt Berry. I'm sure there was a brief series of his character set in LA, but can't find it now.

There are lots of past comedies that leave me cold. My dad used to roll on the floor laughing at Dad's Army, but it's not for me.

Toast of London? Don't think I've ever heard of that.

there are far too many that I simply DID NOT FIND ONE BIT FUNNY - and don't understand others that do - but one man's meat is another poison.

particularly ones that get great reviews - I would say never ever to me one bit funny.

Ahh have you watched this SJ?

That's it! Thanks, scorpiojo.

I haven't, Smow.

You're welcome, CJo.

Just had a quick scoot through Smow's post and realised all the 'comedies' mentioned are from the UK.

Perhaps because most British comedy just isn't funny.

There are lots of so-called sit-coms, the vast majority of them are garbage. The least funny "comedy" of all time has got to be Last Of The Summer Wine. What anyone ever saw in this programme is beyond me. Absolute manure. American sit-coms are also a non-runner with me. The best one has to be Blackadder Goes Forth, which hasn't had a mention yet. 😄

22.04 oh come on Andy, Good life was all about Felicity Kendall, imho of course!

More cringe worthy comedy 'love thy neighbour' !!!!

One which was on terrestrial but has since gone pay-per-view is "Lillyhammer". I found that very funny & original.

I like Scottish sitcoms - Still Game, Two Doors Down, Rab C Nesbitt, Para Handy, The Vital Spark.

"NJ - 20 episodes in the first 3 series and a further 6 in Series 4. Perhaps they didn't show Series 4 when you watched it."

Thanks bhg. You are right, 27 episodes, my error. And they did show them all recently. The last episode covers the wedding of Uncle Mort to Olive Scrimshaw, and that was shown.
