What is the worst film you have seen that got the most acclaim?

For me it has to be "High Noon". I would do anything not to watch that again!

Blade Runner 2049... I may have expected too much loving the original.

Unforgiven, Clint eastwood. Never understood why it gets so many plaudits. The Whole film is predicated on a *** house patron killing one of the girls because she laughed at the size of his ***.

The first of the Lord of the rings trilogy. So boring that I was literally falling asleep watching it. My GF at the time loved it.

I said it on the other thread. 2001: A Space Odyssey. Can't make it through to the ending, just so boring. A more modern one that also left me cold was Oppenheimer. The first 45 or so minutes are just mind numbing.

Mulholland drive ,couldn't work it  out at all x

Eraserhead.  Pretentious, sickening drivel.

14:03 yeah I was very dissappointed with Oppenheimer. It seemed more focused on the "commie" witch hunt than the Manhattan project.

^^^^ like "Sully" was about what he coulda/shoulda done rather than him saving a hundred or so lives. (and possibly 100s more on the ground)

There Will Be Blood

Teachers Pet with Clark Gable and Doris Day I think.

Avatar.  It bored me senseless.

Any film that is "critically acclaimed" you can almost guarantee it wont be worth watching.

Twelve Monkeys

Any musical film - can't see the point

The Blob with Steve McQueen (1958) my friend and I were both Steve McQeen fans - spent most of the film laughing because the blob look like strawberry jam. Not sure it actually got any acclaim to be fair - but it was really awful.

It was his first film so possibly "acclaimed" for that!

Vanilla Sky (Tom Cruise) Watched it years ago at the cinema and when it was finished everyone just looked at each other in sheer confusion, and you could hear people  saying 'What on earth was that all about?'

The Sound of Music - have always disliked it, even the music.
