I thought it starred Richard Harris but am unable to find it listed on his site.
It starts when an elderly (retired)gangster and his wife walking home from the theatre are held up by a mugger with gun. Husband RH? doesn't believe the guns loaded, pushes it to one side, it goes off killing his wife.
