The first time I watched TCM I had to switch it off halfway through as I was so terrified. Back in the Summer though I anaged to watch it all the way through (in the middle of the day with the patio doors open) - it still terrified me but I watched it!!

but the 2nd half of tcm is just her screaming tho :o/

The film that frightens me the most is probably The Hitcher, with Rutger Hauer. It's not scream out loud fear, but a cold chill down the spine and a tensing of muscles as you watch its eery realism. I've never picked up a hitchiker as a result of it, even lone teenage girls.

not strictly a horror unless your one of the people who thinks its all fake, but Faces of Death makes pretty damn uncomfortable, frightening, disturbing viewing. After the trip round the Vietnam war field morgue it was time to go and hide in he kitchen...i dont really find horror movies scary at all and i think thats got a lot to do with watching Faces of Death as a teenager, a horror movie is gonna have to go some distance to ever scare me more than that did...

A Tale Of Two Sisters!!!!!A must see If you enjoy being scared to death!

I watched The Exorcist (as a sixteen-year-old) at the cinema when it was first released, and I was scared s***less. Saw it recently on TV and laughed all the way through. It looked so dated.

The scariest recent film I have seen is "Saw". Want to watch Saw 2, but not on my own!

Jaws. Best horror by a mile. Can you ever swim in the sea at night without imagining something out there?

This isn't gonna help the thread but there was a film in the late 70s/80s,cant remember what it was called it was THE,,,(something),there was a big house in it i think,(useless i know)other than that blair witch and final destination, not scary as such but,,,disturbing, its mind games,

Don't know whether it's classed as a horror - probably not - but I can't watch Flatliners even though it has got the gorgeous Keifer Sutherland in it. Watched it at the cinema when it was 1st out and it really freaked me out. Started fretting about things I may have done or said to others when I was young and how it may all come back to haunt me when I die. Fell asleep on the way home in the back of the car and when my friend woke me up to get me out the car I burst into tears and started freaking and flapping coz I'd had such horrific nightmares - can hardly bear THINKING about it!!

KIPCHIK might you be thinking of The Shining?

SAW had the biggest effect on me out of them all. My worst fear is being trapped somewhere alone without anybody knowing where i was. Couldn't sleep for fear i was going to get abducted in from my bed.

Wait until you see Hostel - I've just watched an advance copy of it. Wow!
Kipchik - The Amityville Horror? Anyway I watched the first Halloween when I was about 7 or 8 and the bit at the end where they shoot him out the window and he's gone when they look. Well creepy.
No its not the shining or amityville,I cant for the life of me remember the title, but its right on the edge of my tongue, somewhere, There is an attic in a big house and something evil there i think,it was years ago now.
Kipchik, are you thinking of The Changeling? It starred George C Scott and was a decent horror. Not too difficult to pick the scariest horror, its The Exorcist. Yes it has dated a bit, however what highlights it now is what a great film it is. Great story and acting. Pure quality. At the time it was unbelievably scary and rightly so. The effects and use of language, music and tension were years ahead of anything of its time. If you can imagine, its only rivals were Hammer Horror in that genre. Now, its difficult to be scared by a film, only shocked. For shocks, the best I have seen recently was Switchblade Romance.
No its not the changeling either, this is gonna bug me,it was out around the time of THE BROOD,i'm gonna have to put a thread on here and see if anyone can help.
