There was a kids tv program at the end of the 80's/early 90's. It ran for a few episodes. It was about a rit of passage for a young alien who had to come to earth and get to a certain point without being caught by other aliens. He had help from his sister who was disguised as a radio. He also had help from a group of kids that befriended him. At the end he got caught, although he worked out that they were actually from his school when they told him he didn't look much like a hero - this is what he told his teacher/mentor that he wanted to be before he left his school. Any ideas??

Are you thinking of Watt on Earth? There was an alien bloke with big green pointy ears that he always had to hide? It was quite good!

No... it was an english tv production. I think it ran for five or six episodes as a mini afternoon tv series. I'm fairly sure it was on the BBC because I remember the main character being interviewed.
