How do I complain about the lack of imagination of the Dr Who writer Russell T Davies? Most episodes are set on earth or earth-like planets and the same "enemies" keep appearing even after they've been killed off because he can't think of new ones.

It only got going once the diseased humans got released.I think the episodes have been cut down to 45mins Last season they were 1 hour (Ithink). Agree...the plants always seem to be earth-like. Once the humans got released, it got good...but did not last long enough to be a good episode. Tenant is a good doctor

I think you guys must be living in an alternate universe.The new series of Dr Who is excellent,there is nothing wrong with Davies's imagination and the stories are great.The cleavage was displayed by Cassandra not Rose,by the way.

I'd agree with that - and in TTG's universe, the clock must be running slow because the episodes have always been 45 minutes long.

Didn't think Cassandra was the enemy as such - apart from stealing Rose's body and then being so proud of it she showed it off. It was the cat like nurses who were the baddies along with the diseased humans. Cassandra showed the cleavage, not Rose although I agree that Billie Piper played both characters. Now there's an interesting debate - who showed the cleavage - the actress or the character?
There's 13 episodes in the series - not all of Ecclestons were that good, so Tennant is allowed a couple of weak storylines as well. What was the Face of Bo on about...

Am not unhappy with David Tennants portrayal, just the storylines and scripts, which was also true of the last series with Ecclestone but I hoped Davies would have improved. I think that quibbling about Cassandra not being an enemy is ignoring the point that she was brought back after she had been killed because Davies cannot invent enough characters...he simply is not sufficiently interested in the genre or up to the amount of creativity such a series requires in order to do it justice. Thanks though Azimov and to BergmanMan, if only...

I agree that the cat nurses were the baddies..but i would say that the diseased humans were victims more than baddies.

I thought it was a adequate opening to the new series and look forward to the rest. (especially if we get to see more of Billie's cleavage)

I would agree with Marwel, personally; I think the last series with Chris Ecclestone, the Xmas episode, and now particularly last nights episode with David Tennant have all been imaginative, fast paced, good to look at ,funny and stylish.

The three of us in this house enjoyed it immenseley and Im looking forward to the stephen fry episode now postponed to series 3, Im not sure why as the olympics are not til 2012

Says it all, the audience enjoying watching it are doing so for Billie's cleavage and dialogue like My God, I'm a chav - Let Davies write some other light entertainment comedy and get someone more appropriate to write Dr Who scripts.

I agree with Suzy - I don't like the 'light entertainment' style for Dr Who. I'd much prefer a more serious tone.

At times Tennant's 'geek-chic' posturing seems a bit Austin Powers.

I'm annoyed that had to resuface an "dead" character, but at least it was well written and gave cassandra alot of back story. and they nicked new new york from futurama. I think the face of bo is a time lord

I don't see what all the fuss is about Billie's cleavage, Louise Jameson as Leela wore a lot less!

As for RTD writing the scripts...why can't sci-fi be light entertainment too? i think the old series were...it's just moved with the times, as any good series should.

And it's good he's startingthreads for later stories, eg Face of Bo. I mean who saw the 'Bad Wolf' thread at the begnning of the last series?

It's good to have a writer that loves the Dr, and pays little homages throughout the series.

And the choices for the last two Doctors have been excellent!

I think David Tenant is good as the Doctor, but the scripts are sh#t. I agree with someone else who said it is too childish. But even children today are more mature than they used to be when I watched the show as a lad. Give us all (adult and child alike) more credit as viewers and make it more serious. Get rid of all the stupid creatures for a start. Deal more with earths past, as we have enough great history for some fantastic storylines. Maybe a story on board the 'Titanic', or a story where 'The Nazi's' invent the Atom bomb first. The 'Master' was a great villian, and it would be great to see more of him. Finally, I know it's sci-fi, but please keep it at least a bit beleivable, and not a joke, or it will end up sooner or later being scrapped again!
