Ok, so I started to watch this last night for the first time (never went to see it at Cinema) and was completely bored stiff! Watched it for a whole hour before the monkey finally decided to put in an appearance! I thought he was what it's all supposed to be about!! And what was with the dinosaurs! Gave up after another 15mins - how disappointing! What did anyone else think of it?

The ape made a late appearance in the original too, and there were dinosaurs in that also. Surely you knew that?

Never actually saw the original!! Maybe I should have although not sure it would have made it any better!
i thought it was great. excellent special effects. yes, the beginning did drag on a bit but then when the action kicked in i was on the edge of my seat. def my kinda film.
I thought it was fairly entertaining when the action finally kicked in. Jack Black was the best character in it. Everyone else was dull as dishwater. And the leading woman was a gormless bimbo who made me compelled to want to punch her in the gob!! I wanted the ape to eat her.
I saw it at cinema...watched the dvd the other day and FF to the point they ge to the island
A good few hours entertainment, but there's a few far fetched scenes.

I agree with you, thought it was a terrible film, seen it at cinema and was bored stiff, in saying that my eight year old son loved it. In the end i felt like shouting hurry up and shoot the ****** xxx

It made me cry buckets at the end!! I knew it was going to, when King Kong went in a huff - the special effects were fab, I thought. What a wuss I am.

I thought it dragged on and I wasn't impressed with the CGI effects when the dinosaurs and humans were running together through the narrow gulley in the rocks. I enjoyed Jack Black and Andy Serkis' performances, but Naomi Watts is just the cheaper and less talented version of her best mate, Nicole Kidman.

Her relationship with the ape was slightly disturbing and didn't ring true at all. It kills a lot of her shipmates and she shows little emotion, yet when the humans fight back and capture it, she goes all gooey and lovey dovey. Strange woman!

The best bit for me was (swear this is true...) when the ape slipped on the ice in central park, and then didi it again because it made the girl laugh, because it was at that point that the guy sitting in the cinema in front of me turned to his wife and said "now that bit's a bit far-fetched"!!!!
