By default I have been watching Emmerdale since it has been on at ten in the evening.
I have a question which the wife either can't or won't answer for me.
Paddy spent �10 on a lottery ticket under Donna's name for a new house which they won. To get the house they have to find �10,000 deposit.

Question, what is it they have actually won??
This is bugging me!

I think that the first house for sale was to go to a local resident at a much reduced overall price, as the Kings had been made aware that the house prices were out of reach of most locals.

Yes, it was the first house on the new King Estate. It was a fix that they won though as their ticket was palmed & passed over to Tom King who did the draw.
