Can't believe what I saw, in that Jeremy, the other two, and the crew, just let that fire get out of control and cause all the damage it did. Surely the sensible thing would be to stop filming and try to deal with it rather than carry on filming like it was an everyday event. What a bunch of tw@s!!

Postdog I know you have had a shock so I will be kind, did you not think it was suss. that the caravan's tyres survived the blazing inferno to be towed at the end!

I did wonder if it was a set up - to be honest I was only half watching because I was doing something else as well, but I still think it was daft to show that.

it was hilarious cause it was blatently set up...obviously if the crew saw a fire breaking out they would try put it out. such a set up!

The whole idea of those three hosting Top gear is too break and make things and make us laugh and that they do. At the end of the day they will no doubt pay for any damage done to surrounding areas and they did try to stop it before it got out of hand. Top gear is highly fun to watch because they are all silly ******* and I enjoy it. And its the camera man who kept filming whilst they tried to put it out, if they hadn't have left the caravan they would have been burnt. They do this sort of thing every week - and lets face it we never actually saw or heard the people in the tent next door, even though they had broken it the day before. I would have a stab at the thought that no one was actually staying in that tent/caravan and as already said it was there for such things to happen.

There was only one thing that I don't think were set up:

James driving into the bollard by the petrol station

I'm sure that even the 25 point turn in the road with thte police turning up was setup.

postdog...bless you for not realising it was set up....that's actually quite sweet.
but set up or not, wasn't that just one of the funniest things ever....when Hamster threw the cushion out of the window and it set fire to the awning next door, I was helpless laughing, and even tho I sky+'d it and watched it again later last night, it was just as funny 2nd time round.
OEV, totally agree about James' first crash, he was so clearly annnoyed that it couldn't have been set up.

Yes, it was blatantly set up and an unwitting lesson on how not to deal with caravan fires. It also provided a first class training opportunity for the local fire brigade, who'd have probably otherwise been sat around the station bored as hell waiting for their next shout.

Irresponsible as it may have looked, the BBC put one heck of a lot of planning into stuff like this.

I loved it, the whole thing was set up except for maybe hitting the bollard and the dog being sick
The smashed plates was the turning point in what was a very funny show. Though i have to say it wasnt quite as funny as the car/boats a few weeks back

All a set up bar the bollard incident. Still extremely funny though.

Remember a few months back when they turned a Renault Espace into a convertable? They put it through a brand new car wash in Bedford which supposedly caught fire. However, in the Bedfordshire on Sunday newspaper, the owner of the garage said it never caught fire, they just added the flames on in the editing suite.

Top Gear rules. Sunday is useless when its not on. Im not a christian, so i dont revoke that last statement. But i am a caravanner, and i still love it!
