Vampire/Horror movie

I'm now 20 and remember a movie from when i was younger, i'm sure it was a vampire movie, there was a kid who drew pictures in his class of a spider with a human head ( I think), and they made friends with an old german guy. I also remember something near the end about finding a virgin to get rid of the vampires/monsters. When they did a kind of black hole opened in the street and cleared all the monsters. Very sketchy but I hope someone can help me.

I think it was late 80's, early 90's. American movie. Hope this helps
