What programmes remind you off your summer school holidays when you were young, mine would be Heidi and Pugwall.

"The Sagas of Noggin the Nog", "Belle and Sebastian" and "The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe".
All in glorious black and white.
And "Why Don't You..." but I never liked it.
The Red Hand Gang, The Banana Splits and Why Don't You... who said we used to get outside more in the 80s?
The Galloping Gourmet.
Crown Court (da da da da doom).
Rooms (about bedsitters).
Peyton Place.

Question Author
violetblue I havent ever heard of any of yours, what year would they have been?
Cricket on the BBC, with Peter West. Never liked him (prolix, Oxbridge, humourless stuffed shirt), but always loved listening to Richie Benaud and Jim Laker's commentaries. Botham's Ashes, '81!
we would get an elvis or cliff richard film every weekday.
Heidi, ah it drove me mad
Silas
why dont you?
1970s - various - not kids progs though; used to watch them in the hols and when bunking off. The Galloping Gourmet was a forerunner to all this celebrity cooking stuff. Graham Kerr, an Australian cook with a cheesy grin, used to cook something and at the end he would invite a member of the audience to join him at the table to eat it.
Crown Court was a half hour drama about -guess what - people in court, and at the end of the third episode it used to have 'The Verdict' .
Rooms was about people living in bedsitter land, coming and going, and Peyton Place was an American drama.
Oh 4getmenot and others, do you remember Sam and the Magic Ball?
Question Author
No
violet, i havnt heard of that, only Jamie and the magic torch
Question Author
voiletblue do you live in England?
It's on www.thechestnut.com/magic.htm - really gorgeous cartoon about a kid that lived near the seaside and I think he had to rub his magic ball before fantastic things started to happen.
Yes I do, and it's a really 'English' type of programme, a bit old fashioned (even when it was on TV).
Question Author
I looked it up but dont remember it at all i'm afraid. It does look good though :-)
Double Deckers
"The" Double Deckers. Sorry.

One of the kids went on to be the lead singer of Aswad. I think some of the others might have gone on to bigger and better things, but can't think which.
"Saved by the Bell!" I still love you Zack!
Will always remind me of my summer holidays off school :o)
That would be Peter Firth(Scooper), BigDogsWang :o)

The actual title of the show was 'here come the Double Deckers'..can't you just tell I adored that show?

Others I watched were 'White Horses', 'The Flashing Blade', 'The Beachcombers' & 'Why Don't You?'. Of course having kids programmes on during the day was a real novelty in those days..during term time it was school programmes or wait until 5.00pm for Crackerjack!

Violet I remember watching 'Crown Court' when I was off *ahem* 'ill' :o)
violetblue, you reminded me of some others on ITV, remember "Paint Along with Nancy" and ( I think ) "The Victorian Kitchen", a cookery programme with a little old lady.

Details of "The Magic Ball" can be found here

I remember 'Paint along with Nancy'!!!! my memory has also been jogged re 'Galloping Gourmet'..ahhhh the memories :o)

I also remember skiving off *ooops I mean being ill* and enjoying 'Cloppa Castle' and 'Button Moon'. And who could forget 'Chorlton & the Wheelies'?
