Are these never ending go on all night 'ring in with what seems like an easy answer to an easy question' quiz shows a swiz or has anyone ever won money (after spending out hundreds on the actual calls themselves!) ?
My best mate won 5000 on one which was a music question. ( Name a band that starts with the letter B ) He did make about 50 calls to do it though which cost 30 in total. Not a bad return, but that's if you have the right answer !
Do you think your calls are computerised rather than randomnly selected, i.e. you have to make a certain number of calls before your call gets put through etc?
I think they are randomly selected as I have heard people on the line who, when asked how many times they phone have said 'once'. That said, perhaps they let one slip through ever now and again just to give callers the idea that the lines are not busy and that they will get throught too.
You can bet that no-one wins a prize until they have received enough calls to pay for the prize, crew, broadcast slot etc etc and still make a load of dosh for the owner of the channel!
They are a con. It's been examined so much, and frankly they're so brazen about it, that there's no point in pretending otherwise. They are a rip-off. OFCOM (the Broadcasting watchdog) and ICSTIS (the premium-rate telephone watchdog) are looking into it now and are likely to come down hard on them in the near future.
In November last year entered Quiz Call's quiz by logging onto their website and using their 'free web entry'. They called me back and I won 20 pound. I did the same the following day and won 50 pound. 3 days later I decided to phone them and finally got through at 10 to 2 in the morning and won 3000 pounds. 4 days later I kept ringing them and won another 400 pound. The money came through the wekk before christmas and so did my phone bill which was 1200 pound!!! Thay've now made it very hard to get through and one night about 4 months ago I tried and figured there was a con going on so I rang and emailed them complaining and they admitted that there had been a problem with their phone lines but hadn't told anyone. Thay gave me 60 free calls (which I used) and I've never rung them since.
