Name this Film?

I saw this film years ago aged very young around 7 or 8 and the only part I can really remember was the end. ther was a young girl in it aged around 11 or 12 and there was a goose in it - some sort of pet. The goose was shot I think by the father and the girl went in the last scenes and shot herself and the parents were screaming and found her dead

and you were allowed to watch that when you were 7 or 8? Have you perhaps misunderstood or misremembered the ending?

All I know is the girl shot herself because the father killed her beloved pet goose or swan but am sure it was a goose. I think I was around 7 or 8 as I saw Jaws aged 7 when it came out and saw the Omen aged 8 at my nan's. my parents were out and did not know I had watched it but I thought it was hysterically funny especially when the guys head is sweverd by the sheet of glass and the same in Jaws when the boys leg is eaten and falls to the bottom stil wearing a sock and trainer - I laughed for about 10 minutes at that.

IF ANYONE WHO KNOWS THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION COULD REPLY PLEAASE AS IT HAS BEENBUGGING ME FOR YEARS

It does ring a bell... I thought it might have starred Hayley Mills but I searched through her films but couldn't see anything similar to that.
